The following wording delineates the Boundary Line (as stated in 46 CFR Part 7) in the 
Gulf of Mexico.  IMPORTANT: SEE NOTE BELOW.
 
Sec. 7.105  Marquesas Keys, FL to Rio Grande, TX.
 
    (a) A line drawn from Marquesas Keys, Florida at approximate 
position latitude 24° 47.5' N, longitude 82° 11.2' W; 
along the 12-mile line which marks the seaward limits of the territorial 
sea (as defined in 33 CFR 2.22(a)(1)) to Rio Grande, Texas at 
approximate position latitude 25° 58.6' N, longitude 

96° 55.5' W.

 

NOTE: FOR THE PURPOSE OF CREDITING SEA SERVICE IN THE GULF OF MEXICO FOR THE ISSUANCE OF LICENSES, THE COAST GUARD HAS PUBLISHED POLICY (NMC POLICY LETTER 1-2000 DATED 3/15/00) THAT ALLOWS SERVICE BETWEEN THE TERRITORIAL SEA BASELINE DEFINED IN 33 CFR 2.05-10 AND THE BOUNDARY LINE AS DEFINED IN 46 CFR PART 7 TO BE CONSIDERED NEAR COASTAL.  FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES, THE BOUNDARY LINE AS DEFINED AT 46 CFR PART 7 APPLIES.
